Jennifer Shay
Jennifer Shay, Director of Music Together of Christchurch, first came to Music Together® in 2003 with her family and enjoyed three years of Music Together collections. In 2006 Jennifer trained at the Center for Music and Young Children in Princeton, New Jersey and became a registered teacher. Jennifer’s music experience ranges from involvement at an early age in chorus, marching band, high school musicals, flute, piano and guitar lessons, singing in the Middlebury Spanish choir, community theatre, comedy improvisational theatre, African dance and drumming, and study of Balinese Gamelan orchestra in Bali, Indonesia. Music Together classes inspired Jennifer to resurrect her flute, which she first learned at the age of seven and played throughout her school years. Jennifer holds a B.A. and M.A. in Spanish and education from the State University of New York at Cortland and Middlebury College, in Vermont, respectively. In addition to teaching Spanish for 11 years to all levels in US public schools, Jennifer has worked as a relief teacher in the Christchurch Rudolf Steiner School. She has traveled extensively, enjoying the musical offerings of many cultures and is a certified yoga teacher. Jennifer endeavours to bring the energy of all these experiences to her classes for a full, rich and enjoyable experience for children and adults alike. She is delighted to be offering these quality classes to families in Christchurch since 2007. |
